Rules of Entry
All entrants must adhere to the following rules and guidelines and must meet the eligibility for the category they wish to enter.
Categories
You are encouraged to enter the category that best reflects your core business activity. If you are entering more than one category, a separate and complete submission must be submitted electronically for each category.
The only category that is open for nominations is Young Tourism Person of the Year.
Location
Entrants must be based or operate in Powys, Brecon Beacons, Ceredigion or Meirionnydd. If your business is based on the border of any of these counties then you must demonstrate that you market your business as being in Mid Wales (e.g. on your website).
Memberships
Entrants do not need to be members of any tourism associations or related bodies. However, operators should be encouraged to take advantage of accreditation programmes where they exist and being a member of a local and regional group or tourism association will help to demonstrate their support of the tourism industry.
Public Liability Insurance
All businesses require public liability insurance to operate when dealing with the public. You must be able to provide this upon request to our judges. To shortcut the process you may wish to upload this at the time of application under the 'upload relevant documents' but this is not a requirement at entry stage.
Fire Risk Assessments
Most businesses will require a 'Fire Risk Assessment' if you operate your business from a building. You must be able to provide this upon request to our judges. You may wish to upload this at the time of application under the 'upload relevant documents' but this is not a requirement at entry level.
Legal Accreditation Requirements
If you are required by law to be accredited to run an activity/event/attraction e.g AALA accreditation, or if you provide activities for groups of children, please state this in your application. You must be able to provide proof of registration upon request by our judges. To shortcut the process you may wish to upload evidence of your accreditation at the time of application under the 'upload relevant documents' section.
Additional Accreditation (Star/Listing/VAQAS accreditation through Visit Wales / AA)
You do not need to be accredited via Visit Wales or the AA to enter the Mid Wales Tourism Awards, although your accreditation will help to increase your overall score. Non-accredited businesses may be eligible to win a Mid Wales Tourism Award but they will not be eligible to go forward for a National Award.

Submission/Judging
- All submissions must be uploaded electronically via the online platform. We cannot accept entries via post/email.
- You have access to update and amend your application/category anytime prior to the cut off date for submissions (6th September 2024)
- If at any time following submission of an entry the business being put forward goes into administration, voluntary receivership, liquidation or bankruptcy, the entrant is required to advise the MWT Cymru team on 01654 702653 and accepts that the submission will no longer be eligible for an award.
- A mystery shopper assessment / site visit may be conducted by one of our judging panel should they deem this necessary. Operations are under no obligation to offer a free experience of their product/service. If a booking enquiry has been made via email or telephone, and/or a site visit has been conducted, we will advise the applicant once this has been completed. The judge is under no obligation to reveal themselves during the interaction / visit.

By submitting an application to the Awards, you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions:
National Judging

By submitting an application to the Awards, you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions:
- Applications for the Awards must be submitted within the time and date ranges specified at www.midwalestourismawards.co.uk
- Applications must be submitted online by following the link from www.midwalestourismawards.co.uk
- Entries submitted by post/email will not be accepted.
- It is free to apply to all of the Awards categories.
- Any business that is shortlisted has free use of the logo and will receive a free certificate of achievement. There is no cash alternative.
- Winning businesses will receive a trophy, certificate and winning logo (FOC). There is no cash alternative.
- Applications may be submitted by any individual representing the business applying (with the exception of agencies and marketing companies - we want to hear from the business direct). The individual who submits the application will also become the contact whom all correspondence from the Organiser concerning the awards will be addressed to.
- You or a colleague must inform the Organiser immediately of any changes to the applicant contact information from the date you submit your entry until the 6th September 2024
- Employees or representatives/agents of the Organiser and Visit Wales are not eligible to submit an application to the Awards except for categories in which third party nominations are publicly invited (i.e. Rising Star).
- You must ensure that your business complies with all current and relevant legal and licensing obligations before submitting an application. The judges reserve the right to not consider an application if this is in doubt and cannot be confirmed.
- You can apply for more than one category, except where specified within the eligibility criteria, but separate applications must be completed for each.
- Applications will only be considered if they are deemed to meet the eligibility criteria for the category.
- Applications will only be considered if they are submitted via the Platform, are completed in full and do not exceed the maximum word counts.
- The Organiser reserves the right to move an application into a different category, if deemed more appropriate and should this occur the business affected will be informed.
- You agree to be part of any publicity undertaken in association with the Awards. If selected as a finalist, you accept and agree that the Organiser and Visit Wales may use or publish any photographs, comments or evidence submitted at any stage of the awards, waiving any rights to payment or to inspect and approve a finished product.
- Awards judges may decline to award winners at any level in some or all categories, if in their opinion there are insufficient entries of a winning standard.
- Award winners/runners up may publicise their success indefinitely provided the placing and year are specified in all publicity and materials.
- Award winners/runners up may only use the specific logo issued by the Organiser or Visit Wales and not modify it in any way, nor use, or adapt for use, any other logo connected with the Organiser or Visit Wales.
- The logo may only be used alongside the location or part of the business that has won an award e.g. a self-catering provider with multiple properties across different locations must only use the logo alongside the winning location.
- You confirm that you own the copyright to any photographs included with your application and permit the Organiser and Visit Wales to use these photographs in PR and awards literature if you are short listed as a finalist.
- If requested the Organiser can provide 'quotes' for use in winners press releases FOC.
- The Organiser and Visit Wales will not accept responsibility for applications delayed or lost as a result of any network, computer hardware or software failure.
- In the event of any dispute regarding the eligibility criteria, application forms, judging process, choice of finalists/winners or any other matter relating to the awards, the decisions of the Organiser and Visit Wales shall be final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.
National Judging
- Should you win an award you may be automatically put forward for national judging by Visit Wales for the Visit Wales Tourism Awards 2025.
- In rare circumstances Visit Wales may deem that an application does not meet the eligibility criteria and reserves the right not to consider the application for national judging
- It is not possible to revisit your application prior to being put forward for national judging
- Visit Wales reserves the right to move an application into a different category, if deemed more appropriate.
