Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

If your question isn't answered below, please contact us - the chances are that someone else is wondering the same thing! Our team is happy to help.
If I win a mid wales tourism award will I automatically go forward to the national visit wales awards?
Not automatically. The Mid Wales Tourism Awards have a number of different categories to showcase the breadth of quality businesses operating across the region and allow smaller businesses to compete at regional level.

For example, we have an award for 'Best Place to Eat & Drink' that is open to smaller cafes, tea rooms, etc, and we have a separate award for 'Best Restaurant.' In instances such as this, where Visit Wales do not have the same sub categories, our judges will select one overall winner to represent the region at the national awards.

Please ask us if you are unsure about anything.
will site visits be undertaken?
Not automatically, no.

If there is a split decision amongst our judges then mystery site visits may be undertaken in August/early Sept at not cost to you.

All entrants should also be aware that mystery calls/emails may be made as part of the evaluation process to assess customer service. We suggest you let your staff know about this.
Can agencies apply to the awards?
No, we don't currently have an award for 'Best Tourism Agency'.

Entries for all other categories (with the exception of the Rising Star Award), can only be entered by individual businesses/organisations, not by a booking/marketing or management agency acting on their behalf.

If you're an agency and would like to encourage your businesses/members to apply for an award, please  contact us if you would like  promotional material to help spread the word.

Agencies are most welcome to sponsor the awards.

can i nominate a business for an award?
No, businesses must apply directly themselves; they cannot be nominated by members of the public. You can encourage them to apply by showing them this website!

The only award that can be nominated is Rising Star. People can nominate themselves or another person whom they think is a worthy winner.
if i make it to the finals, will i have to pay for my ticket to the awards ceremony?
No - we are grateful to our fantastic sponsors who have made it possible to allocate 2 complimentary tickets to each award finalist.

Additional tickets may be available to purchase at a cost (TBC) but they will be subject to availability.

Please note that if you/your business is chosen to go forward to the national Visit Wales awards in March 2025, ticket charges may apply.

are tickets to the awards ceremony available to the general public?
No, tickets are by invitation only for award finalists, selected partners and sponsors.

The awards ceremony is an exclusive event to celebrate businesses and individuals operating at the highest level within the Mid Wales tourism sector.

If you would like to attend, please consider applying for an award or providing sponsorship support.
