Q. We are delighted that the Cambrian News is sponsoring the Mid Wales Tourism Awards 19/20. What drew you to these awards?
It's great to see tourism awards launched for Mid Wales, to recognise the great work and attractions and tourism businesses in the area are achieving. The Cambrian News is happy to be involved because tourism is so important in the area, and so hugely important for our economy. We regularly report on tourism matters and initiatives, on local events and about lots of businesses involved in tourism. We have our own Holidaymaker publications for Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Gwynedd, which come out three times a year, for Easter, the May bank holiday and in July, which highlight the attractions in our areas and lots of things for visitors and locals to do. We also publish a business directory, which is delivered to thousands of homes in mid and west Wales every September.
Q. Please tell us a bit about the Cambrian News for anyone that might not be an avid reader already…
The Cambrian News is the biggest-selling weekly newspaper in Wales, circulating in the five counties of Ceredigion, Powys, Gwynedd, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire. Our circulation area covers nearly a third of Wales and we offer an unrivalled local news service, both in print and online at our website, www.cambrian-news.co.uk.
We are thrilled to have recently been named Welsh Weekly Newspaper of the year for 2019, the latest of many awards won by the newspaper and its reporters. We take pride in campaigning on behalf of our readers, holding politicians to account, and giving space on our pages for our local communities to have their say and to celebrate their achievements.

Q. What are your top tips for writing and submitting press releases to the Cambrian News?
The key to getting press releases published in the Cambrian News is to make sure they are locally-angled, so that they are of interest to our readers. Make sure the points you are trying to make are succinct, interesting and topical. Meaningful quotes and hard data are important. Avoid long descriptions. Pictures are a good addition. And make sure there are contact details in case the news desk wants more details or to query something in the release. A powerful subject line in the email is a good way to catch attention. Press releases sent before the weekend have more chance of getting into that week's editions, because many pages are put together on Thursdays and Fridays. The best email for sending press releases to the Cambrian News is [email protected]
